Biography:  From the day his tiny little heart began beating and the naive 14 year old girl that his mother used to be was informed by the pregnancy test in her hand that, yes, he did indeed exist, Jihoon was almost destined to fail.  If his mother hadn't been such a difficult child to begin with maybe it would have all gone differently, but getting pregnant at 14 was the last straw for her parents and they wanted as little to do with her as possible.  Packed up and forced out of her home, his mother used Jihoon's mere existence to guilt  her much older boyfriend into letting her move in with him and supporting her. Jihoon's father wasn't a good man for many many reasons but he was much better than a lot of the men that came after him so at least, Jihoon could give him that at least.

At some point, he's not really sure when or why, it's just him and his mother in the only apartment they could afford on what she made at her crappy job working crappy hours. Jihoon was left with whichever one of her friends that would take him for the day until he was old enough to convince her to let him stay home. His mother never learned how to deal with her issues in ways that weren't destructive in one way or another. Her boyfriends were selfish and abusive, not always keeping the abuse directed at her. They would stop caring whether or not he was in the room before having their way with her, and Jihoon stopped even noticing after awhile. He stopped noticing a lot of things after awhile.

Jihoon learned to take care of himself as she slowly destroyed herself around him. Eventually there came times he was forced to be the one to take care of her. Not because he cared or someone making him, but she'd get so annoying and loud that he ended up helping her out just to shut her up.

His only means of escape were school and music and Jihoon drowned himself in both starting at a very young age. He didn't make many friends when he was young because of this. All of the time and occasional money that he had available to him was used to learn to play as many instruments as he could and as much about music as a whole that he has access to. The more he could do on his own the less he would need anyone else, treasuring his personal, solitary safe room that music had become to him. It was his safety blanket, his friend, and his home. Momentarily forgetting everything else was easier when he couldn't hear it. Hours and hours a day submerged in whatever he was working on, feeding his constant hunger for improvement.

It took a few years for him to open up and stop hiding from everything, but he began easing into it as he got into high school. He never let any of his friends come over to his home, of course, but he still found it in him to put his projects aside long enough to be a normal teenage boy and do normal teenage boy things at other places.
Jihoon quickly learned that despite his shyness he loved parties and he loved drinking. He loved drinking probably too much. Had he kept his head level he would have thought to use his mother as a flashing warning sign for him to take it slow, but it didn't take him long to find the line of where the fun stops.
'Moderation' became his mantra after a night of particularly heavy drinking lead to him starting a fight he very clearly had no chance of winning and winding up at home looking like he was hit by a car. Seeing her son like this was the shove his mother needed though and decided to act like she deserved the title.
Neither of them made it easy, and a lot of yelling was and is still involved, but they both began working together to make it to a state closer to 'normal'.  An effort towards overall life-better-ment.
When she would cave and give up on a particularly bad day, Jihoon would help her back up for a little more than just to shut her up. Weekends of locking himself in his room for 16 hours at a time now included interruptions of reminders to eat and glasses of water. She even cried on the day he first left for Yonsei, happy that he hadn't become a huge fuck-up despite it all.

________

Jihoon is generally a quiet, moderately shy boy whose excitement and energy tend to come out all at once and in pretty violent ways. It's not uncommon for him to bite, smack, or push around the nearest person if he's feeling particularly excited or restless.
He's also stubborn and with a strong desire for control, liking things to be kept in order. Jihoon is particularly anal when it comes to his own living space and will freely reprimand anyone that tries to move anything around.
Jihoon can be a little jumpy and defensive, especially if he's too focused on what he's working on. He has no problem retaliating to pranks and people trying to purposefully scare him, but he has no sense of what's appropriate when it comes to getting back at people so more often than not he goes a bit too far. He's working on that.
He also is not the most tolerant when it comes to being teased or treated like a small child because of his appearance, which he tries to compensate for probably a bit too much.
Anything pertaining to sex, to Jihoon, is boring. Partly due to his over exposure to it and what he came to associate it with, he just doesn't care or see the appeal at all. It just seemed like a waste of time and effort to him anyway.
